I like such kind of questions because I like to make research.Firstly I want to write about my experience with wikipedia.I don’t know why but I love this source of information.
Yeah I know sometimes information there can be far from neutrality ,or even can contain some kind of mistakes but, they are writing about it they warning you.And thats why to some extend they are credible and reliable. We have Russian saying that if you warned you are armed.
But once I made a mistake I rely to the information on wikipedia website while I was writing paper .And I havent check it anywhere else.
So have minus 3 points. (:)It was previous semester !
Funny thing about that is they already fixed this mistake.(:)
Also what i like there that you can add something or just edit, and for this purpose shouldn’t be an expert,or a scientist!!!!(:)
While I was searching in google I find sime interesting opinions of common ,plain people .
One of them I like most of all ,one guy was complaining that Wikipedia don’t give him a permission to edit .
And one site and opinion which to my mind should be observed. There you can find some controversial facts.

Dauren' HISTORY OF USING WIKI

A few semesters ago I had a course of History of Civilization. This course, as we know, require students so much materials to read, using books, and other sources. However, before midterm exam, we were provided with main questions that we should answer on the exam. Lots of questions, and no books on the hand. I started searching information about historical facts and persons, typing the same in the google search. What I had found was very interesting: all the links on the first page of search results were to wikipedia.org. I had found all my materials on this site. Easiest way I thought. I learnt all the things and went to the exam. However, results were not so good. So, was it my fault, or wikipedia's? It was question that i wanted to answer. Maybe, it was my fault, because i did not like this course at all.
After all, I use Wiki everytime i wanted to find some historical, even modern events information. If i have some misunderstandable things, i try to find it in WIKI. And I can find everything i want in 90 percents. I think, if people whole of the world use this encyclopedia, that could provide with many informations, I should use it. And now, I rely on this encyclopedia, but I also try to check any information with the reliable books, using wiki as an additional resourse.

Zu-Zu

Akina

In my opinion, Wikipedia is not a reliable resource. The reason is that the information presented in it is short and not comprehensive enough. It lacks good argumentation and scrutinized scientific research. In academic writing Wikipedia is not worth of citing, because a lot of facts are omitted and the reader gets only half of the information.

But there are people who like Wikipedia. As Victoria says: "In my personal opinion, people could trust Wikipedia because they always provides readers with references and if at some stage in reading some questions appears, Wikipedia’s texts have links within and search button on right side." (newinfotech2.wordpress.com)

Attitudes to Wikipedia could be different, and it is up to every person whether to use it or not.

tory_bloom

 Wikipedia & Credibility
As we (NIT students) found out several days ago during class session, several people would still use Wikipedia, even if it is prohibited by their instructors (teachers, professors…etc). Why it is so popular? Firstly, it’s easy to access and it contains everything that simple people want to know, because it is actually created (or could be corrected) by these simple people, except protected articles Secondly, as Wiki itself put it, this free encyclopedia allows so many opportunities to cooperate for people: navigation system, discussion pages, reviews and reverts and so on. In my personal opinion, people could trust Wikipedia because they always provides readers with references and if at some stage in reading some questions appears, Wikipedia’s texts have links within and search button on right side. Even Wiki works together with Google on limited rights, but no way in order to find more accurate information. Also, about writing on Wiki- in England, for example, it is not so easy – future author should wait for 3 days in order to gain access, in Portuguese, at least 15 editing should be made before publishing. Edits could also be made automatically (“bots”).Owing to Wikipedia so many communities has been created (wiki farms, for instance, could be personal, private wiki on the Web)! Wiki also provides links to other sources- that is also plus, and do you know how many languages Wiki use for writing? 82- that’s the point! Useful for everyone and used by everyone…I hope, that is not sound as ad :-)

name

There is no abstract available for this page revision.

Home

In my opinion, Wikipedia is not a reliable resource.
